Update:
Sorry that its taken me so long to get around to this.
We closed on the house on Wednesday, had it professionally cleaned, locks changed, and a gas shut off valve installed (for our gas dryer) on Thursday. On Friday, we had the carpets cleaned and installed shelf paper. Saturday, the movers had us moved by noon. We unpacked and hung up pictures.
Things we still need to finish: The master bathroom and the office. Other than that, the entire house is finished. It really was the easiest move ever. Although, it helped that I was totally excited about it and that I have a ton of storage space.
The asshole that we bought the house from took things out of the house that he wasn't supposed to.... the master bedroom curtains and rods, the installed surround sound speakers, the 2nd bathroom shower curtain rod, the gutter water "catchers", and a planter from the garden. We had verbally agreed that we was to leave the speakers because they were affixed to the house, that he could take the curtains (they were fugly) but needed to leave the rods, and that he'd leave the planter because I liked it and his dad made them for fun. We also have a pink bedroom, I wanted to leave it pink for a while and he patched a hole and painted it the color of the rest of the house because he figured that we wouldn't want to leave it pink. I asked him to leave the pink paint so that we could cover the darker color. He didn't leave it either. The thing that sucks about all of this is that these items were there when we did our final walkthrough of the house and we don't have a realtor on our side to make it right. I can take him to small claims court but I haven't decided if I want to do that just yet.
The whole asshole thing didn't ruin my excitement about the house purchase. I wasn't going to let it. I love living there and everything about it. I was ecstatic to discover that some of my bottom kitchen cabinets have the slide out shelves. It was the best discovery of the weekend.
My hubby, OUtuba, had to go out of town on Monday and just got back last night. We didn't have a chance to enjoy the house together. A family member fell and was in the emergency room last night. I have had 2 hours of sleep from the hours of 230 - 430. I am on a caffeine high right now though. And family member is home and ok for now.
Work has been hectic, my boss, the owner's daughter, got pissed off and quit. So now I am my own boss with a lot more responsibilities. Hopefully a fatty raise will follow. Owner said he'd evaluate my performance for 6 weeks, if I work out, I may get my salary as much as doubled. How sweet would that be? Anyways, its been 4 weeks today and things are going well. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
